Jagapathi Babu is an Indian film Actor known for his works Predominantly in Telugu cinema. He has been working in this industry for 25 years. Jagapathi Babu has acted in over 120 feature films and has also won 3 Filmfare Awards and 7 Nandi Awards.

Jagapathi Babu was born in Machilipatnam to a veteran producer-director V.B. Happened in Rajendra Prasad’s house. He was brought up in Chennai, Tamil Nadu for his upbringing before making a mark in Tollywood cinema.

He has also been awarded the Kala Bhushan award from the TSR Lalitha Kala Parishad for his contribution to cinema. Along with this He has also worked with some famous people like Raghavendra Rao, A.M., Ratnam, Ram Gopal Varma, Krishna Vamsi, S.V. Krishna Reddy, V. Satyanarayana, Guna Sekhar, Radha Mohan, Chandrasekhar Yeleti, Raja and J. Chakraborty.

Jagapathi Babu made his Telugu debut with the film Simha Swapnam (1989), produced by his father and directed by V. Madhusudan Rao. But he did not get any good success from this. After a long time, his first successful film was released in 1992 named Peddarikam. He also found success in 1993 for his role in the film Gayam, directed by Ram Gopal Varma. After this he did not stop much and then he was awarded the Nandi Award for Best Actor in 1996 for his role in the film Maavichiguru directed by SV Krishna Reddy.

In 1997 he did blockbuster movies like Shubhakanshalu and Pelli Pandiri. In 1998, he also won the Nandi Award for Best Actor for the film Anthapuram. Then in 2000, he again won the Nandi Award for Best Actor for his performance in the thriller Manoharam. After this he wanted to try himself as a director for which he directed films like Kabaddi Kabaddi, Athade Oka Sanyam, Pedababu and Anukokunda Oka Roju in 2003-05 which proved to be blockbuster films. In 2006 also he appeared in the films Samanudu and Pelena Kothlo. In 2007, he was again awarded the Nandi Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film Lakshyam and also won the Filmfare Award.
