She made her debut in the film Na Ghar Ke Na Ghat Ke, where she also played the role of Neena Gupta and Om Puri’s daughter. She rose to fame for playing the lead role as Gopi Modi in the Indian drama series, Saath Nibhana Saathiya, but was later replaced by actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee. Jiya was also a part of the Indian sitcom, ”Sab Tv Tha”, where she played the role of Jenny opposite Ali Asgar.
