Arunima Sinha is also an accomplished Indian sportsperson and mountaineer, who has also achieved many important achievements. And in 2019 too, he achieved his goal and also completed the final summit of Mount Vinson in Antarctica. But Arunima’s extraordinary achievements in sports and mountaineering have also earned her several accolades from the government in India, including the prestigious Padma Shri award in 2015. Arunima Sinha was born on 20 July 1989 in Akbarpur, a town in Ambedkar Nagar near Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, India. And his father served in the Indian Army, and his mother also worked as a supervisor in the health department. And Arunima also had an elder sister and a younger brother.
Even after her father’s death, Arunima’s mother worked hard to take care of the family. And Arunima was a talented sportsperson and played both football and volleyball at the national level. But she was keen to join the paramilitary forces and had also received a call letter from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
However tragedy struck when Arunima was on her way to Delhi as well and the robbers snatched her bag as well, causing her to fall off the moving train. And she had serious injuries and was unable to walk. So unfortunately, a train coming from the opposite direction passed just below the knee of his leg. And the local people helped him and he was taken to the hospital. And this accident changed Arunima’s life forever.
Arunima Sinha is also a former national volleyball and football player and in April 2011, when she was traveling from Lucknow to Delhi, she was pushed out of a train by goons who tried to steal her bag and gold chain. Had given. And he had serious injuries to his leg and pelvis and his leg was also broken. She had to be amputated to save her life, despite her claim that she was pushed from the train, and a police investigation suggested that she either attempted suicide or was the victim of an accident while crossing a railway track.
However, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court also ordered the Indian Railways to pay a compensation of ₹500,000 (US$6,300) to Arunima Sinha. But later he was also provided with a prosthetic leg free of cost by a private Indian company based in Delhi. And despite the national outcry, the Indian Sports Ministry provided him with a compensation of ₹200,000 (US$2,500) and recommended him for a job in the CISF, while the Indian Railways also offered him a job.
India’s former national level volleyball player Arunima Sinha had also taken a vow to climb Mount Everest while undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. He also excelled in a basic mountaineering course and was encouraged by his mother and brother to climb Everest as well. Sinha had also scaled the island peak as a preparation for climbing Everest. Also in 2013, and after 17 hours of hard work, she also became the first amputee woman to scale Everest as part of the Eco Everest Expedite sponsored by the Tata Group.
The Uttar Pradesh government honored Arunima Sinha, the first Divyang woman to climb Mount Everest, by giving two cheques. and 25 lakhs. Jitendra Singh had also congratulated him on this achievement. And Sinha is now dedicated to social welfare and plans to open a free sports academy for the poor and disabled, which she will fund with the proceeds of the award and symposium. And he also wrote a book called “Born Again on the Mountain”. But he was also honored with the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian award in 2015. And in addition, he was also honored with the Tenzing Norgay Highest Mountaineering Award in India, similar to the Arjuna Award.
